Young love doesn’t like to wait, no matter what anyone says. In our adolescent years, most of us were trying to figure out whether or not we wanted to go the prom; meanwhile, these stars were planning their weddings. The majority of these relationships are long over, so you may be surprised at these 13 celebrities who got married when they were teens. But while it’s definitely rare for people who married that young to stick together for the long haul, it’s happened—one of the couples on this list is still together today.

Drew Barrymore was only 19 years old when she married Jeremy Thomas, a bar owner, in 1994; unfortunately, that marriage lasted less than a month. In June 2018, Thomas told Radar Online that the decision to get married was made on the spot when they were hanging out with friends one night, and he knew things were over when she went to Hawaii on their honeymoon without him.
Like Barrymore, Macaulay Culkin was a major child star and also pretty young when he got married. In 1998, he married fellow young actor Rachel Miner when they were both 17 years old. In 2000, they decided to split, with Culkin’s rep releasing a statement reading, “It is very amicable and they remain best of friends.”
Elizabeth Taylor is famous for her eight marriages, and her first was to Conrad Hilton Jr., of the Hilton hotels family. Their relationship began when Taylor was still in high school; they tied the knot with much fanfare in 1950 when she was 18 and he was 24. The divorce came 205 days later.
When Solange Knowles was just 17, she married Daniel Smith, her high school sweetheart. They divorced two years later, and continue to co-parent their son Daniel Julez, who is now a teenager himself.
“Just going through a marriage and a divorce—which I essentially did by 21—will give you an insane amount of perspective on life,” Knowles told Harper’s Bazaar in 2014.
Long before Bo Derek‘s longtime relationship with Sex and the City star John Corbett, she was married to another John. Derek was 17 when she married her first husband, John Derek. That he was 46 wasn’t the only reason their marriage was controversial; he also happened to be married to someone else when they fell in love.
“When I look back on being 17 with a 46-year-old man, I thought I knew everything. It felt right at the time. I was so in love with him. At 17, I felt I knew everything and was ready to take on the world. To fall in love with this exciting man and live in Europe was a dream,” Derek told The Mirror, admitting that she did regret breaking up his marriage.

Home Improvement star Taran Noah Smith was fresh off the popular sitcom when he decided to settle down with the much older Heidi van Pelt. At the time that they married, Smith was 17, and van Pelt was 33. It lasted for six years, with the couple divorcing in 2007.
Olivia Wilde and pop culture royalty Harry Styles‘ romance is currently making headlines, but before that, she was married to the son of a real Italian prince: Tao Ruspoli, who is also a filmmaker. At the time, she was just 19, and they eloped inside the school bus that Ruspoli was living in at the time.
Eight years into their marriage, they decided to go their separate ways.
“I’m a case of arrested development, in a way—from spending your 20s with someone who really loves to take care of you, as my husband did,” Wilde told Marie Claire. “But I think it’s very healthy to spend time alone. You need to know how to be alone and not be defined by another person.”

Not only did Melanie Griffith marry Don Johnson young, she also married him twice. The first time around (in 1976), Griffith was 19 years old, and the marriage only lasted six months. They gave it another shot in 1989, and this time around, it lasted until 1994—during which time they brought their daughter, Dakota Johnson, into the world.
Demi Moore‘s teenage marriage is what led to the stage name she still uses. In 1980, she married musician Freddy Moore at 18, but wrote in her recent memoir that her whole heart wasn’t in the marriage, even from the get-go.
“I couldn’t face the fact that I was getting married to distract myself from grieving the death of my father,” she wrote in Inside Out. “Because I felt there was no room to question what I’d already put in motion. I couldn’t get out of the marriage, but I could sabotage it.”
The end of LeAnn Rimes‘ marriage to Dean Sheremet was big tabloid news, because when she left him for Eddie Cibrian, who was also married to someone else. The country singer and actor was 18 and Sheremet was 20 when they walked down the aisle, and it seems like Sheremet is still pretty upset about the way things shook out.
“The dumbest thing she ever did for her career was divorce me, because we were such a good team. The last hit song she had was when she was with me,” he told Nat’s Next Adventure in 2015.
Sonny Bono and Cher‘s relationship is one of most famous in Hollywood history, and it started when Cher was still in her teens. When these musical icons got married in 1964 (just a year after they met), Cher was just 17 and Sonny was 28, but they held off on the legal ceremony until 1969.
After starring in Dazed and Confused together, Milla Jovovich and Shawn Andrews got married. She was 16, and he was 21. It didn’t last long, though—their marriage was annulled two months later.
The middle brother and lead singer of the band Hanson is now 38 years old. Back when he was a 19-year-old heartthrob, he married a fan named Natalie Bryant. They’re still together today, and just welcomed their seventh child in December 2020. (The other two Hanson members also got married early and have lots of kids.)
